Orders for Quality Control 

An Indian National Standards Body called BIS is tasked with standardisation, conformity assessment, and quality assurance of products, services, procedures, and systems. Consumers may receive Third Party Assurance of the product’s safety, quality, and dependability thanks to the Product Certification Schemes, which are supported by the Indian Standards created by BIS. In essence, the BIS certification programme is optional. However, the Indian Government makes compliance with Indian standards for some items mandatory for a number of criteria, including public interest, the safety of people, animals, or plants, environmental preservation, preventing unfair trade practises, and national security. The Indian government requires that these items use the Standard Mark under a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) or Licence from BIS via the issuance of QCOs.

In order to implement the authority granted by Sections 16, 17, and 25 of the BIS Act, 2016, the Central Government of India released QCOs after consulting with BIS. This made the items subject to BIS Certification a requirement.

Licensing Procedure for BIS Certification 

1. The applicant completes the application as directed by BIS.
2. Submission of any necessary paperwork.
3. BIS officer goes to the applicant’s factory for a preliminary inspection
4. BIS Officer looks through the product samples.
5. The BIS Officer draughts the final test report following the completion of all assessments.

Following the inspection, the BIS Officer carries out the surveillance procedure in order to perform a thorough factory assessment.

Surveillance Procedure for BIS Certification 

1. Test findings are verified by the inspecting authority in the factory.
2. Samples are sent to the lab by the BIS Officer.
3. A summary of the inspection is shown in the Test results
4. A performance review report is created.
5. The Certificate is then issued.
